I know, I know. Someone else did it first. It's one of those things where the brand new GM comes in, sends out this spot that he loves and says 'Do this'. So I do it. It's probably the first time I've ever had to basically steal someone else's idea. But I was forced to! And if you read the youtube description, I spell all of that out.
That said, I do like the way the second one came out, and I'm editing a third version right now. May the promo gods forgive me.
Fear not Mark, it runs in the corporate family. My station manager (also in Meredith) saw your spots and now wants me to knock your versions off. Take it as a compliment, I guess...
I'm sorry that you have to endure the same thing I just did. When I realized that I'd have to shoot a third version of this, I about broke down and cried at the thought of having to try to make kids act, again. You could just take my spots and change out the logos...

I love them. The emotion sells so much better than wx guys and scary announcers. I made a similar one a few years back...

I always like KCTVs promos - but I think KXAS did it better(and first?)

Yup...saw this concept come out of the NBC/affiliate agency a few months ago...not sure it's something I would have copied though.
Sure - the first spot is similar to the NBC spots... but the second spot is great!
Glad to see them take it to the next level.

"Stealing" spots usually doesn't work out too well, but I like these. And let's face it, only the local viewers are going to see them.
