KEYE: Experience Matters

The problem with this promo is that it puts the anchors on a pedestal. Guess what, your viewers know Texas too.

Viewers don't think, "I sure like channel 5, but I'm going to turn to KEYE because they have more experience."

The other problem with building your team up as the "most experienced" kind of dissolves if/when your experienced anchors leave.

I think there was a way to do this spot that communicates "experience" much more powerfully. It's certainly a nice-looking spot, but the promise feels empty.

If they've covered the big stories over the years...why not include some of those moments in the spot? To me, those are the money shots that reinforce the "experience" message and help viewers connect with your team. Something the fakey news footage and scenics just can't do.
