We edit mainly on a combination of Premiere and FCPX. More and more leaning towards FCPX as the guys get the hang of it.

We are migrating from Final Cut Pro to Premiere. With Adobe's new subscription model and workflow, it just makes more sense for us.

FCP 7...haven't upgraded to X. Would love to hear FCPX wisdom.

I really miss our Avid.

Having used FCP, Edius, and Premiere I prefer Premiere by far. Simple interface, great cross-integration between products, plus that Mercury engine leads to super-fast renders on HD even with loads of effects.

I'm so happy to have ditched Avid. I love the flexibility of working in between Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

No longer will I export edited video to Ae, treat it, export it, and re-import into Avid. Frankly, the thought makes my skin crawl. :)

I completely agreee with Brian, though I haven't used FCP in ages, I'd like to see how it compares to Pr.

Has anyone purchased Video Copilot's "Element 3D" for After Effects? It looks wicked fast and easy to use.

I'm a big fan of their Optical Flares and the latest Red Giant "Magic Bullet" suite.

What other new tricks of the trade are being used in our news/promo world?

We're about to switch from Avid & FCP to Premiere once our Avids die. We all use AfterEffects, so it seems to make sense.

Paul- Element is awesome. Especially since I've always been low-mediocre with traditional 3D programs. It's very easy to use. Though I'm still not sure how Andrew Kramer supposedly made half the stuff on its demo reel!

Moved from Avid to Premiere a couple of years back and love it. We also recently got Element 3D and it's quite easy to use. Similar to Invigorator, but more intuitive.

We're on FCP 7. We're looking to switch to Premiere when the time comes. We're all heavy Photoshop and After Effects users so integration is key. For right now FCP works for what we need. FCP X was too much of a change to be adopted into our workflow.

I'm going to be the odd person out here, but I use Apple's FCPX and Motion 5. The integration between the two is pretty stellar for my workflow and I really enjoy the interfaces. I find Motion easier than AE is, but I never really trained extensively on AE. The only rub is our news workflow is top to bottom Avid, from ingest to playout. When I've been asked to help with news projects things don't always integrate quite as nicely.

PREMIERE USERS, I BEG OF YOU...

Does anyone have a good solution for closed captioning? Have any of you purchased 3rd party authoring programs to write the CC file? This is probably the wrong forum to ask, but I haven't seen an acceptable answer anywhere.

How do YOU closed caption in Premiere?
