Well, I've never seen this before. A promo dedicated to telling people the station is getting new graphics.
Actually, their point is solid. They're saying their old graphics sucked and their new ones are better. Clear. Clean. Easy to digest.
What do you think? Do viewers care? Is a promo the right forum for this or should the newscast handle it?
Take a look from WUSA in DC.

I was expecting a promo bragging on their new flashy look but what I got was the simple point that news GFX are to busy and cluttered (Ever watch FOX business JESUS). It makes a solid argument and I think it was effective.
I like the concept, but I'm not sure I'd start with the line "Local news can be so BORING and busy-looking at the same time."
I like that it mirrors what USA Today has been doing for decades. I can only hope that it will transition over to their local websites. If other Gannett stations were anything like KXTV News10 in Sacramento the on-air look is a mess. The new WUSA logo is interesting.
They also handled this in the newscast, and very effectively. At the 3:30 mark.

That anchor sells it.
Not in love with the promo, but the graphics package is striking. Looks like they co-opted USA Today's layout and cleaned it up for broadcast.
