Interesting Morning Show Promo
I'm not sure what I think about this one. This is a morning show promo for WNBC. It certainly is different and probably gets people's attention... but, hmmm... I don't know!
Let's discuss this one. What do you think?

I like metaphor advertising. The best spots use situations that you don't see coming until they spring the metaphor on you. You are intrigued by the creative, then instantly understand the message. And hopefully you find the message useful. The metaphor in this promo is cute but might go on too long and the sell is a bit generic. Maybe juxtaposing the animal shots with human shots throughout instead of just at the end would make more impact, or maybe have your talent address the idea of living/working in a jungle to introduce their personalities and make a personal connection. Too often we lose the human connection in promotion. Kudos for the creativity. I enjoyed watching the spot and I like the open and end animation, but not sure how effective this spot will be in recruiting new viewers.
Yeah, we get the connection, but it's either trying too hard to make the connection, or not hard enough. Something is definitely off here, and I can't figure out what it is.
I CAN say that for me, there's no 'WOW' moment in the spot. No hook. I'd love to hear if anyone else can pinpoint what's missing.
I agree. There's no wow. The copy is a bit bland, full of common sense stuff. The video is unexpected, I'll give them kudos for that, but I quickly lost it after the first few seconds.
The message is not simple enough, it's not concrete enough, and there's really no emotion.
Maybe it was the bland VO. Now if we heard an Australian talking to us as if were on a safari...
"look over there, mate. Let's give these lions a bit more space..." rumble in distance "aw, crikey...wildebeests blocking the whole road...3rd time this week I had to deal with this mess.."
2nd announcer: "Need reliable traffic reports? Today in New York..traffic on the 1's. It's a jungle out there."
The whole thing is just not working for me. I agree with Mike that the promotion might have been better served being busted up into shorter spots. Maybe if they had played up the concrete jungle vs. the real thing more. This spot is just... eh.
I have to agree with most of you - the spot just lacks something. WNBC has done some great work and I applaud them for this effort - but it just doesn't work for me.
I'm sure they did :15s with this, which were probably more clear and to the point. This :30 drags it out too long.
Knowing how viewers are crazy for animals - maybe this spot works for them - but it just lacks something for me.

Produce a whole series of those.
Just my 2 cents.
