KWTV: It's a Twister!
Here's something from our friend Paul Greeley. CNN gave them some great POP bites!
On Saturday afternoon, May 24, at around 2pm, both CNN and FOX News went live to KWTV News9’s (CBS, Oklahoma City) coverage of a tornado north of OKC. While KWTV News9 had continuous reports from Chief Meteorologist Gary England in the weather center and News9’s many storm trackers, the most dramatic footage came from its chopper, SkyNews9 HD, piloted by Mason Dunn. Shortly after the live coverage, CNN interviewed Mason Dunn on his experiences shooting tornados from a helicopter. This is followed by CNN Meteorologist, Jacqui Jeras, talking about the footage and the work of both England and Dunn.

Not bad. I would have set it up from the top, though. "When the tornadoes touched down...making national headlines...the only station CNN turned to was News 9..." I just think the praise starts out of no where and if it weren't for the write-up of the spots, then I would've been lost. But that is some great sound from CNN.
Not only is the praise lost to the very end, but unsuspecting people may have even thought the station had accidentally changed. An opening VO here was necessary to keep the story moving.
It's kinda disappointing they didn't go more over the top with it to be honest, because how many other local stations will ever get live, on-air, unrehearsed praise from CNN? That's a HUGE friggin' deal.
