WBZ Jaywalking Spot

This must be a sweeps topical - under the "Declare Your Curiosity" brand.

Not so sure about the topic -- interesting but not sure I'd watch for this... but nice, simple spot none the less.

That's for the end of year gag reel, right?

I declare my 'curiosity' must be way out of whack if this is news.

Is this their version of "Good Question" or something?

It's overly dramatic and won't propel me to watch. When it comes down to it, it's silly.

The answer to the question at the end is no. No one cares.

Swing and a miss...

Great web story idea and the promo is produced well. But as a destination story? Would I tune to a newscast to see it? No.

why would i watch a story about an issue that, as the promo declares, no one cares about?

You all must be joking. It's fantastic. The dramatic build-up is the whole point. He's breaking the law... but what is it? (drama builds with music) Oh... it's Jaywalking. No one cares about Jaywalking. But why? It's a huge problem. If you don't get irony or creativity, then I guess you wouldn't understand.

when you start asking the viewers you serve what they're curious about, be prepared for the realization that you, as a local news organization, have truly no idea what's on the minds of your audiences. Jaywalking wouldn't have made bz's "daily news agenda" if our viewers hadn't sent in countless curiosities about it -- "why aren't pedestrians cited for jaywalking in Boston?"
Here's my curiosity: Does our inability to come up with that story on our own mean we're out of touch? More important, who are we to say what they're curious about isn't news-worthy?
In case you're wondering, the promo received great reaction from viewers. Thanks everyone...I appreciate the forum.

Looks like a little of the FOX Charlotte spirit creeping in.

I dig this. It stands out. It's fun, and the story addresses a "problem" that really isn't to most people. I also appreciate that the news department didn't get uppity about protecting their "precious" story.. and let the marketing team do what their supposed to do... sell the station.

Nice job guys.

'someonefromwbz' makes sense. That's why I wondered if it was there version of CBS stations' "Good Question."

So I have changed my mind.

It may be sad, but I'm more interested in the new shape of milk jugs than the latest murder in the 'bad' part of town.

Now I look forward to more of these.

Yikes. I mean 'their' version.

I haven't changed mine.
I get that it fits their brand. That said, I guess I would never be a wbz loyal viewer if I have to sit through stuff like this to get the weather. And this story wouldn't be enough to get me to sample on that night.

One thing to be remembered is that this is about Boston, where tyhe prevailing attitude is "If you don't like my driving, GET OFF THE SIDEWALK"
