Are those graphics from Juno? I like them. Nice spot. Aren't those the married anchors? I'd be scared to make my anchors the actors for a spot like this. I wonder what the overnights said and if it actually spiked the numbers.

Why don't they just change their name from "WCCO News at 10" to "Entertainment Tonight with Weather"?

I like the spot but am I the only one who wonders if this is news?

Hey, beats the crap out of scaring people for the millionth time. If it gets viewers, more power to them.

I was thinking the exact same thing...what must that sweeps story have looked like on the planning calendar...hmmm....big investigation, tax dollars wasted, can men and women be friends, uh, wait a minute...

I don't fault the promo...but would surely question who's coming up with these quirky story ideas...maybe it fits with their news image...but with everything happening in the world today...seems pretty irrelevant.

if you have a married couple co-anchoring the news...
well, you can't avoid the elephant in the room. they don't have a news "team" - they have a "couple", a "family" and folks are not likely turning to their news for the pure journalism. the viewers likely have made a personal connection to the "couple" and you might as well capitalize on that. you can argue the journalistic integrity all you want, but the promo team is just playing the cards dealt to them.

The interaction in the middle of the spot was unclear and muddied the message in my opinion. I like the look overall though. Is it news? No, but if the story fits the station's image and gets them demo tune in, then the spot did it's job.

thanks for the feedback.
apparently the viewers were intrigued...we did one of the biggest numbers we've done in months last night.

I liked the spot, but couldn't understand the dialogue in the middle. I blame the audio mix.

And is it really about promoting the news or what's in the newscast? Not every story is beat you over the head breaking news. This is a topic that appeals to... well, pretty much everybody

If you don't live in Minnesota, well, you don't really get the audience we have here.

This works perfectly whether it's "news" or not.
