The Next 6 Nights

My former competitor in Orlando, WKMG, did these teaser spots for the Olympics:

When you're in 3rd, you have nothing to lose to be aggressive. So I will always give points for trying.

That said, the buildup spots were awesome, but the bait-and-switch payoff spot only sorta worked because of confusing copy.

Here's what I think the payoff promo was trying to say: "Over the next six nights, we're trying six different ways to bring you the news. E-mail me what you think, and I'll reply to every one of you."

The problem is that the only concept that got through with the real promo is the latter. The former concept was written too vaguely to be clearly understood: "Every night at 11, we're doing something different." So is it a different newscast setup every night or one setup for six straight nights? This is an important distinction to the viewer, because s/he has to determine the value of E-mailing the anchor "for the next six nights."

This concept had a chance to be a home run, but instead it only got to the warning track.

Diggin the end of the 3rd promo, her head shake...etc. Nice "real" delivery closer to the end.
Rock on, way to try something new!
