UPDATE: For those of us curious if these spots are working or not -- comes an article from Uncle Barky, a Dallas TV blogger.
Here's a quote from the article:
"WFAA8 is closing in on second-place NBC5 and no longer runs all that far behind reigning champ Fox4 in the 6 to 7 a.m. ratings."

WFAA does it again with the latest Ron Corning promo. A humorous play on words - this is a real departure from the station's stuffy image from the past.

Way back in my first job at an ad agency whose clients were mostly ABC O&Os, I learned that in order for viewers to like someone, they first needed to know who they were, and where they worked. So I wrote quite a few of what were called ID/Recognition spots for new talent at those stations.
So I applaud this campaign for not only achieving the ID/Recognition goal but showing a little personality as well and a sense of humor. Well done.
