WBBM in Chicago has recently launched this new campaign:
Here is a link to the article in the local paper, where 3 advertising gurus weigh in. It also contains a link to another version of the spot.

What are your thoughts? I find it confusing and a bit much. You?

I find it confusing too. A little all-over-the-place. I also find Bill Kurtis likable in those AT&T ads, but he seems creepy here. Maybe I'd get it if I were from Chicago.
The closeup, wide angle framing makes him look weird too. Hope they aren't counting on this to take WBBM back to its glory days.
When does he find the internet?
I'm not sure what I just watched. Even if you're familiar with Bill Curtis, I'm not sure why he's giving the rundown of shows.
It's just weird.
In the second version of the promo he says off the top "I remember when people ACTUALLY watched CBS 2 News.. I should know, I'm Bill Curtis."
Really? REALLY? Blasting your client right off the bat? I get it, he was around during the 'golden era' of news... But I immediatly thought, "no one is watching these guys, why should I? Just for Bill on Tuesdays??"
To counter: His Ron Burgandy inflection and delivery is priceless... He could probably sell me on anything :)
The rights fees to use the black-eyed peas sounding music track would have blown my entire production budget for a year....must be nice!
