KTRK Weather Talent Promo

Not sure what I think of this one. Its fun and light... yet I'm not sure.

I wish they hadn't shot the people over chroma key... but does the average viewer notice that? Probably not.

thoughts?

This sucks. It's stolen, almost word for word, from a WPVI promo. Click my name to see that one. I think they even used some of the same background images here, and you're right, the chroma key is an awful way to do this.

Borrowing a concept...we all do that, but you make it your own and make it work for your market. This is outright stealing.

Bad producer. Very bad!

I'm with you evil monkey. I remember your spot and it was done very well. I wanted to do something like it, but was afraid of not being original enough.

The pseudo WCCO spots below are just as bad.

Where has the creativity gone?

The WPVI spot, like many over the years at the ABC O&Os, is probably the work of Mike Davis from New York Communications, and was probably directed by Peter Churchman. These two gentlemen are responsible for writing and producing more local TV news image spots than anyone in the country since the 1970s. I see absolutely no reason why a success promo done in one market shouldn't be used in another.

Wow when I first saw this I did remember the original one and knew this wasn't it - but I didn't realize it is stolen WORD FOR WORD. I agree evil monkey, it's one thing to use another spot to get ideas - but make it your own!

In the world of youtube, I think viewers notice a lot more than they used to, at a certain age point.

I've never seen the original...

To me, it felt like the new "I'm a PC" Vista ads. Only with chroma-key suckage. :-)

Was the producer really too lazy to write a new script and go out and shoot new images? Really?

And these people work in the creative department?
