11Alive Together

11Alive in Atlanta has just launched this new spot featuring Andrew Young - the former Mayor of Atlanta, who was a leader in civil rights. He was a very close friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and was with him at the time of his death.

The producer told me:  "The focus with this relaunch campaign is to identify with the core of audience of Atlanta. Rather than show our anchors; or talk about ourselves, we wanted to acknowledge the people of Atlanta are what matter most, and it is their stories of hope that make Atlanta what it is."

It was great until they basically showed the former Mayor reading a script (That's how it came across to me) and then, asking him to say the station's name. Yea, because he ran for Mayor of 11Alive.

Next time, just have him say "Together we are Atlanta" and show the logo. I can't imagine doing all of that production work only to end it like that.

I felt something. Nice job.

Just a small thing that maybe only a producer would notice. Can you replace the foreclosure clip? It's unreal stock footage that is mixed in with real and emotional video.

Really liked it. However the end with Andrew Young reading left me a little empty. I would have been cool with him in the city with a dolly move in or something. But the rest is great!

What a great promo and then you see him reading a script? change that and the foreclosure shot and its promo gold

The foreclosure shot does interrupt the reality of this spot, because that never happened. Handle it differently and shoot the mayor just looking into the camera, maybe a blink. You don't even have to see him talking, people will know.

Nice Feel and Pacing... first sequence really draws you in. Gotta agree with the other comments about the button line by the Mayor and the Foreclose stock shot... There are a few other moments of a little too much "see dog say dog", the shot of Hope.

But overall a great piece.

You guys are all awesome.
I really appreciate Your feedback.
We are actually shooting Mr. Young next week, to address this very issue. The man is amazing, and is as active Today as he was 50 years ago. He is so busy, and it takes a little time to get him booked :-)
As for the foreclosure shot, I agree it is certainly worth revisiting.
Thanks So Much!
