Best Sweeps Ideas so far

Well, its about 1/2 way or so... soooo.... anyone have any good sweeps ideas?

This has been a hard book. I don't see many good stories out there anywhere. Tonight, we're profiling a guy who may have cured a form of cancer, with a machine
he built in his garage. A good hook, since he has no medical background.

If anyone has anything good to share - please do so.

From you, from the competition, from 10 years ago - any good ideas will do!

Sorry to beg. It happens in November.

We did this one 10 years ago and again this book. Went to 10 local daycares to test their "non-parent" pickup policies. Had we been real kidnappers, we'd have stolen 4 of the 10 kids.

We went back in and confronted the ones who let them go. Had permission from parents beforehand so we didn't break any laws. Ran it after a big lead-in with 2 days advance promotion. 2 point spike over and ABOVE our normal late news number. Best night so far.

We're doing a similar story this book. A place like Chuck E. Cheese that's supposed to check every kid in and out the door. We had no problem snatching kid after kid on hidden camera.

Some other good ones from past years:
- Fake Cop uniforms (people let us in their homes, donated to charity, etc.)
- Cheater Kit (how to catch your spouse cheating)
- Kids with Guns (roll a hidden cam on a group of preschoolers in a room full of unloaded, real guns)

I've always loved the "kids with guns" idea - i saw a great spot years ago from WCNC, i think...

A few books ago we staked out a few Salvation Army drop sites and got plenty of people stealing stuff from them. That was an easy one to turn in a night or two.

We've had some pretty good special reports this book in Indy but most of them are very market specific. We did do a huge interview with the owner of the Colts, the owner of the Pacers, and the owner of the Indy Motor Speedway. It was pretty cool to get all three at once for their first interview together. If you've got a lot of sports franchises in your town that might be one to consider.
