WABC "There Goes That News Van"

Here's a fun little spot from WABC. I like the play on regular car commercials and really drives the point across in a simple, direct way.

This is yet another take on the "There Goes That News Van" concept.

I thought this was a GREAT spot. But I think it should have taken the concept even farther, or followed the 'car commercial' angle through showing the features of the van, like "Fifty-foot high antenna, full mobile edit suite, and extra cupholders - STANDARD"

Actually, what I think would be funny is for one station to follow a competitor's news van around all day and do a promo showing what they're doing. Specifically, in the drive-thru lane at McDonalds or Burger King (or both!), in the parking lot at a strip club, stranded with a flat tire on the side of the road, etc. Anything that shows non-exciting or newsy stuff.

Cool spot, I don't know which came first but I saw almost the exact same spot from WPVI a few years ago. Both ABC O&O's. It's the kind of spot that would work anywhere though.

I like the idea above... I once saw a news photog shooting video of his own accident scene after he had put it in the ditch along side an interstate.

Not like it matters to the real viewers but has anyone noticed that in every News Copter 7 promo that will pop up as related there is that one shot of a helicopter's shadow flying in front of a glass building? It's not even the same model as the choppers WABC leases. I know...the details...only I would notice.
