Music can be critical to your brand. A familiar theme can stick with people unlike anything else.
Think Intel.
Think James Bond theme.
Here is a cool video from the folks at Stephen Arnold Music that explains it well:
Here are the new opens for WBBM in Chicago, which have a very distinct signature:
And for those with absolutely nothing else to do - here is a video on those famous 4 notes from Intel.

Sweeps are Moving
Well, for May that is. To avoid Memorial Day, Nielsen has announced that May 2009 sweeps will move up a week.
Now, for those of you keeping score - it was previously announced that February sweeps are moving BACK - to avoid the digital transition time.
So there will be just three short weeks between March and May sweeps.
Here is a complete list of revised dates:
MARCH 2009--- March 5 - April 1
MAY 2009--- April 23 - May 20
JULY 2009--- July 2 - July 29
NOVEMBER 2009--- Oct. 29 - Nov. 25

Great Sweeps Ideas
Got any?
As November approaches... we're all trying to figure out great stories for the book.
A good one we do every year at this time is the Black Friday ads... thanksgiving sales papers, found online a week ahead. Helps people find the best deals - before they head out shopping.
Is this an oldie that EVERYONE knows and does?
Any other great ideas to share?

Great Site for Inspiration
This was mentioned in the comments for the KTRK spot. There is a great site from the Creative Director at Hothaus Creative that you should check out:
http://www.forbiddensky.com/motion/motion.html
Filled with great visual examples, this site fetures the work of Nel Santiago. Nel has worked at KTVT and KXAS in Dallas, KSAT in San Antonio, WFOR in Miami, among others.
He does outstanding work. His site features great spots, some how-to articles and a few goodies. Check it out.

KGW Spots
Here is a spot from KGW in Portland. It's a spot aimed at generating buzz over a brand new studio opening early next year in downtown Portland's "Pioneer Courthouse Square". Portland's "living room"... as residents like to call it.
This spot originally aired during the Olympic games. This has a very nice feel to it:
Several more spots were also rolled out at the same time... similar to this one. Some cool visuals:
I'm assuming their art director, Jeff Patterson, has something to do with these spots. He's fantastic and KGW has a great look. Check out his website(which, unfortunately hasn't been updated for awhile):

MORE WFAA Promos!
I love WFAA. Always have. Their promos are usually some of the best in the biz. I'm especially fond of the late 90s/early 2000s...
Someone has been uploading new, current WFAA spots faster than I can post them! So here you go:
This is a beautifully shot promo for morning anchor Cynthia Izaguirre:
Here is another in the Dale/Pete series:
And one for Gloria Campos:
And my favs, two for their morning show. Nice, simple concepts:
And last but not least, one for WFAA's Green initiative:
